Miss Rachel

Teacher

Dance and performing arts has been a huge part of my life for nearly 30 years.
I have been teaching for 17 years in the styles of jazz, tap, ballet, acrobatics, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary.

During my teen years I studied at the Hunter School of Performing Arts where I was able to participate in Starstruck, musicals, dance festivals and I also performed at the Opening and closing ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympic games and Paralympic games.
I also studied dance outside of school at Lee Academy Dance and Performing arts where I competed in many Eisteddfod’s in the Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney areas.
I have competed at the Showcase National Finals and in the Battle of the stars.
I started helping with dance and acro classes at the age of 15, whilst completing a 3 year teacher traineeship.
Most of the exams I have completed are in the Ballet Australasia syllabus.

As a teacher I hold my certificate 4 in dance teaching and management. I also have completed the Acrobatic Arts module 1, 2 and aerial and back handspring teaching courses. I have had students complete their Acrobatic Arts exams in my 6 years of teaching the syllabus and have taught up to level 8.
I have been teaching the Australian Teachers of Dancing syllabus for the past 10 years. I have been teaching multiple levels (up to advanced) in ballet, tap, street tap, hip hop, jazz and contemporary and preparing students to sit their exams.

I have a passion for teaching students correct technique whilst enjoying the process of achieving their goals.

My favorite hobbies are surf life saving, spending time with family and friends, creating custom dance costumes and of course, dancing!
My favorite food is Italian and my favorite drinks are coffee and Coke.
My favorite colour is purple!

I hold my first aid certificate and bronze medallion from SLSA and have my WWC certificate.

I can’t wait to meet the students at United Dance and nurture them through their training in my classes.
